  47. Two reasons:
  48.  
  49. 1.   A fully configured JNOS + BPQ system leaves me with 69K after boot. A 
  50. fully configured
  51. JNOS with NETROM included leaves me with 58K after boot, I only have a 286 
  52. so I cannot do clever things with memory and every byte counts. There 
  53. appears to be little or no performance impact to either LAN or Radio users.
  54.  
  55. 2.   BPQ code is in widespread use (at least within UK) so first time users 
  56. see an interface
  57. they are familiar with. The welcome message then points them in the 
  58. direction of the more
  59. sophisticated tcp/ip world, hopefully they will become converts. At least 
  60. they will not be
  61. scared off at the first hurdle.

  213. I dont have the info immeadiately to hand but I have seen descriptions
  214. of two TNCs designed in Germany, a TNC3 and TNC4 which use some of
  215. the motorola communications processors. If I can find the info I will
  216. post it to the group.

  239. I think you'll find that what you are talking about is the DSP project. 
  240. They have recently released the DSP4 modem after they redesigned their DSP3
  241. modem because some of the parts became very hard to get.
